Student engagement isn't a behaviour problem. It's a connection problem.
When students learn apart, connection is the hardest thing to build — and engagement depends on it. Survival Island is a virtual team building experience that brings Year 9–13 students together, in the format of the games they already love.
Real collaboration.Real connection.Built for distance learning.
Survival Island Overview
Filmed in the breathtaking islands of Fiji, studentts face survival challenges in teams, make strategic decisions together, and compete to escape—all in one immersive 60-minute adventure hosted on our platform.
Attendance isn't engagement
In many online sessions, a student can log in without ever really taking part. Survival Island works differently:
- Every student has a role the team depends on
- Progress relies on contributing, not just showing up
- Participation is built into the game so all students can contribute
- There's a reason to lean in — the team needs them

Is it safe for students?
Yes. The host is a pre-recorded actor — there's no live external presenter interacting with students. All content is available for your team to review in advance.
What data do you collect?
No individual student data is shared outside the session. Session information is held briefly for quality assurance and then automatically deleted.
What do students need to take part?
Just a secure browser link. No downloads, no setup, no prep — students click and they're in.
How many students can take part?
Each session runs with small teams and works for groups of varying sizes. We'll help you set up the right group size for your students when you book.
Can a teacher see how it went?
Near the end of the session, each team sees their own results on screen — a survival score, a collaboration score, two strengths, and one growth area. A report of participation and engagement can also be provided for teachers on request.
Who's behind Survival Island?
Survival Island is made by SquadGame, an NZ-owned and operated company. The experience is designed to give students learning at a distance the connection and teamwork that distance usually takes away.
